Communication Sector Improving The Information Technology (IT) and communication sector has witnessed a significant growth in the past two years. Announcing this Communications and Information Technology Minister Reza Taqipour said the money in circulation in the sector increased from $8.1 billion in the year to March 2009 to $15 billion in the year to March 2011. Speaking in the Second National Festival of Information Technology and Communication, he noted that the ministry is bound to establish national information network by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15), adding the network is expected to become operational in three phases, IRNA reported. Taqipour noted that fruitful steps have been taken in the field of developing electronic trade, pointing out that all Iranian people are projected to have electronic file by the end of the Fifth Plan. He noted that more than 400 governmental services are presently provided to people electronically. He said that some 70 percent of the governmental services should be provided to the people electronically by the end of the Fifth Plan. Referring to the improvement of productivity index in the field of information technology, he said the capital productivity index in the field stands at 31.3 percent, manpower productivity index at 23 percent and total factor productivity index at 29 percent. The Second National Festival of Information Technology and Communication was held at the International Conference Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting concurrent with the World Communication Day. | ||
