1st Airborne Mine-Detecting Robot Invented An Iranian inventor has successfully developed the country’s first airborne mine-detecting robot capable of discovering and defusing mines one-meter deep in the ground. Asghar Safari told IRNA that the flying mine detector discovers mines in up to one-meter depth of the ground and then they will be defused by a robot that can be controlled by an operator on the ground. “The machine can be used to clear Iran’s southern and western border areas from mines remaining from the wartime era,” he said. Safari added that saving the lives of his Iranian fellow citizens was the main objective of inventing the airborne mine-detecting robot. Many Iranians living in southern and western border areas are killed each year by mines left from the 1980-88 Iraq-imposed war against Iran. | ||
