Call for Expanding Parliamentary Ties with Sudan Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with visiting Vice-Speaker of Sudan’s National Assembly Hajo Gism Al Sid called for the expansion of parliamentary ties between the two countries. Larijani underlined the importance of promoting parliamentary relations between the two countries, and said expansion of parliamentary relations would prepare the ground for further acquaintance of people of the two countries with each other and for expansion of cordial bilateral relations in all spheres, Fars News Agency reported. He said the people and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have strong bonds with Muslim people of Sudan and stressed expansion of economic, political and cultural relations. The Sudanese parliamentarian, for his part, said abundant natural resources in Sudan and high technical capabilities of Iran can expedite expansion of economic relations between the two countries. Al-Sid also submitted a message from the Sudanese speaker to Larijani inviting him to attend the upcoming conference of Islamic countries in Sudan. Iranian and Sudanese leaders have placed increasing emphasis on the expansion of ties and cooperation between the two nations. Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir said on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit here in Tehran (August 26-31) that the relations between the two countries are ‘excellent’, but called for bolstering mutual cooperation. Also, during a visit to Sudan late in September 2011, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lauded the close ties between Tehran and Khartoum, and underlined that the two countries are resolved to boost mutual cooperation with no limit or boundary. | ||
