Iran Junior Volleyball Team Advances to Asia Semifinal Iran's volleyball players defeated Thailand in the quarterfinal of the 2012 Asian Junior Men's Volleyball Championship to advance to the semifinal of the tourney. The host team won the game 3-1 in Urmia, Iran where the tournament took place, which also led to the team’s advance to Men's Junior Volleyball World Championship due to be held in Turkey in 2013. Iran was held off in the first set 22-25, but won all the other sets-- set 2: 25-12, set 3: 25-14, and set 4: 25-14-- to collect a total of 97-65. In the preliminary round of the games Iran managed to beat Taiwan, India and Australia. In the other quarterfinal encounters, China defeated Taiwan 3-1, Japan, blanked Australia, 3-0, and India won South Korea 3-1. The Asian Junior Volleyball Championship is a tournament for national teams under 20 years old and is held biannually and organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the Asia volleyball federation. | ||
