Iranian, Chinese Officials Stress Further Expansion of Scientific Ties Iranian and Chinese officials in a meeting in Beijing explored avenues for the further development of bilateral ties between the two countries, especially in scientific and technological fields. Iranian Minister of Sciences, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjou and President of Chinese Academy of Sciences Bai Chunli in a meeting discussed bilateral scientific and technological ties. During the meeting in the Chinese capital of Beijing, Daneshjou and Bai explored avenues for strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Iran and China. Daneshjou said his visit to China is aimed at bolstering and reinvigorating relations between Iran and China, and said, “The scientific relations between the two countries should be further deepened.” He noted that Iran and China can have good and successful cooperation in the field of nanotechnology, saying that almost all Iranian universities are active in conducting nanotechnology research. The Iranian minister of science, research and technology, heading a high-ranking delegation, embarked on a four-day visit for China. In the recent years, Iranian scientists and experts have taken big leaps in the scientific, medical and technological fields. Iran’s ranking in the field of nanotechnology has considerably improved in the past eight years. Iran now stands 9th in the world and 1st in the Middle East in the field of nanotechnology. Earlier this year, Secretary-General of the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar announced that Iran has reached self-sufficiency in the field of nanotechnology. “Iran has attained self-sufficiency in the field of nanotechnology and the Nano Olympiad for students has been recognized as an official event,” Sarkar said in a ceremony to inaugurate a specialized nanotechnology laboratory for students in Tehran. | ||
