Iran Opens Most Advanced Car Test Center Iran’s largest auto-manufacture company (IKCO) R&D Center’s emission lab has been turned into Iran’s most advanced car emission test center that meets global standards. According to IKCO deputy CEO in design and development of new cars Nima Mosleh, this center is qualified to operate Euro IV and V tests and also emission tests for diesel vehicles. The equipment are in the process of installation and will be ready to be put into operation in 1H. Mosleh referred to IKCO’s various projects regarding design and development and added, “These projects are chosen based on technical and economic studies and are meant to cover the company’s strategy and market and customers’ demand.” The deputy CEO referred to the company’s projects for 2013 and said, “In powertrain section, the design and development of 1900cc XUM engine is our ongoing project with IPCO (IKCO Powertrain Company). The power and torque of this engine that is developed based on XU7 engine is boosted, while its emission standard is improved to Euro IV.” XUM will be first mounted on Peugeot Pars and then on other IKCO cars. Mentioning other powertrain projects, Mosleh cited the design and development of EF4 engine as other ongoing projects and claimed, “This engine that will be ready to be placed under IKCO Runna’s hood by the end of this year is a version of 1400cc EF7 national engine.” In the meantime, Mosleh reported on the national turbocharger engine project in 2013, confirming that SAPCO is supposed to supply the required parts and finally the engine will be installed on IKCO Soren. Considering new cars in 2013, IKCO deputy CEO in design and development declared, “This year IKCO Dena is going to hit the market and Samand pick-up will be provided with the required tests before mass-production by the end of this year.” IKCO is working on producing a new platform for segment B cars, and relies on its R&D center’s design and engineering skills in developing this platform. | ||
