Iran Builds Fastest Flood Alarming System Agroup of Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company manufactured the fastest flood alarming system with the capability of announcing flood and floodwater in urban areas through text message system. “Sepehr system, the world’s fastest flood alarming system, is able to investigate the extent of rainfalls with dozens of calculated levels in terms of intensity and continuity. It informs the country’s crisis management officials of flood risk through text message system in the least possible time if the data reaches the risk level,” Mohammad Sattari, the lead author of the plan titled ‘Sepehr’ (the system of processing and storm alarming) told. The Iranian researcher added most of the hydrology experts believe that it is not possible to announce flood with the concentration time of less than one hour. The current rain-meter reports data about the recorded rain to flood management center every 10-15 minutes. After a 30-minute process, the investigations would be complete to announce flood alarm. He further added that Sepehr system is capable to function in processing time window of one minute and in a processing time of less than one second. It then sends 10 text messages in each second and informs the crisis management officials of the flood risk. Sattari further added that the sensors have been indigenized in all domains, including areas related to comprehensive studies on flood. | ||
