Iranian Taekwondo Team Wins 12 Medals in Tunisia The Iranian taekwondo team has grabbed 12 medals on the first day of the third Carthage International Open Taekwondo Championships in Tunisia.
The Iranian male and female fighters managed to win 12 medals in different weights on the first day of the tourney, which kicked off in the coastal town of Nabeul in northeastern Tunisia. In the women’s section, Dina Pouryounes, Parisa Qorbani, and Parisa Farshidi won gold medals in the first, third, and fifth weights respectively. In the third weight, Reihaneh Mohammadi managed to bag the silver medal. In the men’s section, Ebrahim Mardani, Ali Nasr Azadani, Sajjad Mostafavi, and Mahdi Khodabakhshi won gold medals in the first, fifth, third, and seventh weights respectively. The Iranian silver medal winners were Masoud Haji-Zavareh in the fifth weight, Mohammad Khamseh in the third weight, and Payam Qobadi in the seventh weight. Yasin Akbar Netaj also grabbed Iran’s sole bronze medal.
