The sixth international Iranian robotics competitions and symposium kicked off in the capital Tehran with the participation of 400 national and international teams. The RoboCupIranOpen 2011, the third International Symposium of RoboCupIranOpen and the first Joint Conference on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) got underway in Tehran International Exhibition Center, MortezaMousakhani, the chairman of Iranian RoboCup National Committee told IRNA. The competitions, organized by the Iranian RoboCup National Committee and Qazvin Azad University, draw teams from the Islamic Republic and other countries, including the United States, Germany, China, Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands, Britain, Mexico and India. Commenting on the quality and high level of standards taken into consideration in the competitions, Mousakhani, who is also the head of Qazvin Azad University, stated that the Islamic Republic has been ranked by the International RoboCup Federation in 2010 as the best and the most respected organizer among 12 hosts of such competitions. On the sidelines of the ongoing competitions, Professor Stephen Cameron, the head of British robotic team hailed Iran’s scientific achievement and other significant accomplishments in robotics. | ||||
