Sayyad-1, including two stage missiles, was deployed to take out a variety of flying objects, including bombers at medium- and high-altitude. The Sayyad missile system, in addition to wage electronic warfare is capable of countering systems with small radar range. Sayyad-1 with a warhead of 200 kg moves towards the target with a speed of 1,200 meters per second. Sayyad-2 has higher precision and range and more destructive power compared to its earlier version and would significantly upgrade the defense power of the armed forces. In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and is moving rapidly toward self-reliance. In January the Defense Ministry delivered new naval cruise missile systems to the Navy. The military unveiled its first domestically-manufactured long-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in 2010. The Karrar UAV is capable of carrying a payload of rockets to carry out bombing missions against ground targets. It is also capable of flying long distances at high speed. | ||||
