Industrial Housing Construction Gains Momentum
Industrial Housing Construction Gains Momentum Currently, industrial housing construction accounts for 30 percent of the entire construction rate nationwide, which is 10-percent beyond the 20-percent target set for Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15), said Deputy Minister of Housing Abolfazl Someloo. Given the young population and constant demand, traditional construction methods cannot meet the annual housing needs, he added, according to Inn.ir. Therefore, industrial construction can make proper use of national resources, to improve living standards and reduce costs, he pointed out. Someloo recalled that given the comprehensive housing plan in Vision 2025, close to 24 million housing units (17 million for urban districts and 7 million for villages) should be constructed by 2025. Experts believe that the aforesaid goal cannot be materialized through traditional methods. Industrial housing construction is obligatory for improving the quality and safety of buildings. Apart from being economically sound, this method will improve quality construction, increase the speed and reduce energy losses, he said. Moreover, it will also create new jobs, he added. Only 20,000 housing units were constructed through industrial methods until the Fourth Plan (2005-2010). However, since then, over 400,000 housing units have been constructed by Mehr Housing Scheme. This is a proof of progress of industrial construction across the country.
