Disabled Athletes Gain 95 Paralympics Berths

Head of Iran’s Paralympics federation said that the athletes have gained 95 berths for the 2012 London Paralympics Games.
Speaking to IRNA, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, said, “By gaining berths in ping-pong and shooting the total Iran quotas will reach 105. In the 2008 Beijing Paralympics Games we gained 16 gold medals to 22nd in the rankings. I think our athletes will be able to gain more medals in London and improve our rankings.”

Meanwhile, a member of Iran’s sitting volleyball team hopes that the team will finish first in London Para Games. Naser Hassanpour said, “We are in the fourth rounds preparatory camps and all of our 16 players are motivated. Iran is one of the top teams in sitting volleyball and has gained good results in Asian and world championships.”
Also Iran’s blind football team took the berth of London Para Games. The team was defeated by China 1-0 in the final game of the selection games which was held in Japan. Sajjad Husseinzadeh said, “I am glad that we will take part in the London Para Games.”
