Fars, Punjab to Boost Ties During the second phase of the official tour of Iran, a delegation from Pakistani Punjab province led by Senior Adviser to the Chief Minister Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa visited Shiraz, Fars province. The visiting delegation held a meeting with the governor general of the province, Hussein Sadeq Abedin to discuss prospects of establishing strong economic relations between the two sides, Daily Times reported. Abedin proposed that there should be more exchanges of business delegations to establish strong trade network. Khosa invited the governor on behalf of the Punjab Chief Minister to visit Lahore along with a delegation of Iranian officials and businessmen. Having accepted the invitation, the Iranian official said he will soon visit Lahore to explore opportunities for trade and investment, the report said. Speaking on this occasion, Khosa said that it was a landmark visit as this is the first time that an official delegation from Lahore had visited Shiraz to establish economic ties between the provinces of Punjab and Fars. He said Punjab and Fars share similar culture, literary heritage and economic conditions and there is a great scope of business relations between the two provinces. The delegation also visited Shiraz Chamber of Commerce and Industry and held a meeting with the leading chief executive officers of Shiraz. Khosa, while addressing the CEOs, invited them to invest in agriculture, livestock, dairy, energy and infrastructure sectors of Punjab. He assured the businessmen that he will personally ensure that they are facilitated and provided all necessary support. He also urged the Iranian side to increase trade with Pakistan in meat, wheat, rice, oranges and maize. He also asked the Shiraz chamber president to hold a mango exhibition in the month of June and Punjab government will send mangoes for the exhibition. | ||
