Tehran Ready to Expand Cultural Ties with Thailand Iranian Cultural Attaché in Bangkok underlined Tehran’s readiness to strengthen cultural relations and cooperation with Thailand, especially in religious fields. Mostafa Najjarianzadeh made the remarks in a meeting with Chief of the Muslims in Thailand Asis Pitakkumpol (Abdul Aziz bin Ismail), saying that Tehran is ready to help boost cultural relations cooperation between Iran and Thailand government and in particular its religious institutes and communities, Fars News Agency reported. He conveyed Iranian officials’ message to the religious leader and thanked the Thai king, government and Pitakkumpol himself as Sheikholeslam of the region for their attention to the situation of Muslims. Chief of the Muslims in Thailand, for his part, said that Muslims are proud of Iranian nation’s resistance against hegemonic powers. “Iran is a developed and powerful Islamic country; I know well that the Iranian officials do their best to make headway based on Islamic values,” he added. Top Iranian and Thai diplomats in a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York in 2011 had explored avenues for the further expansion of relations and cooperation. During the meeting in September, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined Tehran’s resolve to further expand relations with Thailand, and voiced Iran’s readiness to promote the level of cooperation with Bangkok in all the various political, economic, trade, cultural and scientific grounds. | ||
