Iran, Russia Hold Seminar on Scientific Ties Iran and Russia held a seminar on scientific and cultural cooperation at Imam Khomeini International University. Addressing the opening ceremony, chancellor of the university, Abdel-Ali Al-e Bouyeh, said based on the mission assigned to the university by Majlis, 50 percent of the students admitted to the university should be non-Iranian, IRNA reported. “Scientific and educational cooperation and exchange of students with other countries are also among the university’s priorities,” he said, noting that international activities have been on top of the university’s agenda since 2006 and it has managed to forge educational and scientific links with other countries. A delegation from the university visited Russian universities in 2010 at the invitation of the country. Stating that Iran favors other countries’ dignity and independence, Al-e Bouyeh said for the same reason, it believes no country has the right to dominate another country. Meanwhile, executive secretary of the seminar, Mohammad Husseini Moqaddam, said the event is aimed at promoting scientific cooperation between the two countries. Moqaddam said 32 scientific articles by Iranian and Russian instructors were presented during the event. Topics for discussion include scientific and technical cooperation, cultural and political ties, defense and security strategies, and economic and commercial exchanges between Iran and Russia. | ||
