Movie Exploring Two Last Years of Imam Khomeini’s Life in Production A young Iranian filmmaker is currently busy making a movie, which will be a depiction of two last years in the life of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. “The Years of the Event” will be completed within the upcoming months, director Saeid Chari told Fars News Agency. Valiollah Momeni has been chosen to play the role of Imam Khomeini, he added. “The movie depicts parts of the life of Imam which has been less reviewed. It narrates the events between the years 1987 to 1989 with less attention to the political aspects of Imam’s life,” Chari stated. “The screenplay is written by Sana Sadeqi, while the experts at the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works have given us the best of help in rewriting the screenplay,” he said. The movie also shows part of the Varamin Uprising which took place on June 5, 1963, in which several residents all clad in white shrouds were killed in support of Imam Khomeini by the Pahlavi forces. Mir Taher Mazlumi, Majid Shahriari, Amir Zarivand, Siavash Qasemi, and Mohammad Azadi are among the major cast members, he added. “The Years of the Event” is due to be aired on TV during the demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini in June. | ||
