Iranian Documentary Competes at Taiwan Film Festival Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Moniri's documentary Tinar took part at the 2012 edition of Taiwan International Children's Film Festival (TICFF). As Iran’s only representative, Tinar took part in the event's Competition section along with four other documentaries. Produced in 2009, the 72-minute visual presentation depicts four seasons in the life of a young boy as a shepherd, who spends a great part of the year alone working in the meadows of northern Iran. Tinar was screened in Della Lessinia film festival in Italy, Oulu International Children's and Youth Film Festival in Finland as well as the Open City London Documentary Festival in 2011. It also won the UNESCO Award for outstanding contribution to the promotion and preservation of cultural diversity during the 2008 Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs). The Jury awarded Tinar for its rich evocation of rural life in the mountainous regions of Iran. Established in 2004, Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival (TICFF) is the first film and television festival in Asia dedicated to viewers aged 12 and under. The 5th edition of the biennial event was held in April 2012 in Taipei. | ||
