India’s 2012 IDFF Awards Two Iranian Films Iranian feature-length and short films have been awarded at the 2012 edition of the International Digital Film Festival (IDFF) in India. The Qandil Mountains by Taha Karimi and The Sound of Rain by Jalal Saedpanah received the main awards of the festival held in Siri fort auditorium of New Delhi. Karimi’s production recounts the story of fighting soldiers in the Qandil Mountains where the borders of Iran, Turkey, and Iraq meet. Saedpanah’s short film recounts the story of an artist who lives atop one of the city roofs and is continuously disturbed by a boy who loves the artist over everything. The Sound of Rain received the Golden Gazelle award for the best short film as well as the best screenplay and the best director prizes of the 4th Suleymaniye Kurdish Film Festival. The film also won the Golden Egg award of the 6th Duhok International Film Festival in Iraq. The 2012 IDFF aims to give a platform to new films and upcoming directors from across the world.
