Mashayekhi Returns to Stage Celebrated Iranian theater and cinema actor Jamshid Mashayekhi will return to theater stage after a lapse of 13 years. Announcing this, theater director Hadi Marzban told Mehr News Agency he will soon stage ‘A Night on Wet Pavement’ which features Mashayekhi. “This will be the play’s second performance. I earlier performed it at City Theater in 1999. And, Mashayekhi was also in the cast,” Marzban said. “The veteran actor will be accompanied by Farzaneh Kaboli and Ferdos Kaviani in the upcoming performance at Iranshahr Hall in June,” he said. Mashayekhi began professional acting on stage in 1957. His first feature film role was ‘Brick and Mirror’ (1965, Ebrahim Golestan). After a four-year break, he acted in ‘The Cow’ (1969, Dariush Mehrjui) and ‘Qeysar’ (1969, Masoud Kimiai). ‘Kamalolmolk’ and ‘Hezar Dastan’ (Nightingle) are among his famous works. Mashayekhi commonly appears as an elderly grandfather because of his white hair and charismatic face and figure.
