Iran to Advance E-Commerce in West Asia
Iran to Advance E-Commerce in West Asia Islamic Republic of Iran intends to promote electronic commerce and business among the West Asian countries, with Tehran assuming a central role, said deputy minister of industries, mines and trade. “Over the past three years, Iran has managed, by procuring the electronic commerce infrastructure, to be a pioneer in this field among West Asian countries,” said Mohammad Sadeq Mofatteh. He further stated that electronic business has a history of less than 20 years, but the East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea have had considerable progress in the field during the past decade, unlike the West Asian nations that have not paid enough attention to the issue, Press TV reported. “Now [Tehran] is trying to develop e-commerce, on the basis of exchanging trade documents by electronic means, among ECO [Economic Cooperation Organization] member states in West Asia with Tehran having a central role,” he added.
